Goodbye

July 12, 2012

Well this dream is
far too real
I see your face
In every place
your shadow
is following me
The lines in your skin
are familiar
and comforting
like the lights
of your eyes
and your breath
on the wind
The fire of you
and the warmth
in your chest
makes me feel
a twist in my guts
that I’ll never
forget
For though you
died a while ago
I know you’ll always
be on my mind.

  1. “I see your face
    In every place
    your shadow
    is following me”

It’s like you are speaking my life. When Peter died I saw him everywhere. A stranger passing in the street: some little mannerism would remind me of Peter. Maybe the angle he held his head or the way he walked. And for months every time it happened I would get an irrational surge of joy, a momentary belief that Peter was not really dead. And then the shadow, and the knowledge, and the despair.

Thank you for letting me know that I am not alone. It’s 25 years now, and I no longer see Peter everywhere, but yes:

    “I know you’ll always
    be on my mind.”

    • I’m really glad you could connect with this and that it resonated with you in some way. I was touched to read your words and I agree it is so nice to know you’re not alone… Thankyou.

  2. Beautifully expressive, I feel your loss and share your pain, in this you are not alone.

Tell me something. Your words are interesting.
